Asking for help is not easy, whether you're experiencing general dissatisfaction, life crisis or trauma. Counselling offers an opportunity to explore thoughts and feelings in a safe, non-judgemental environment, in the company of someone professionally trained to support you through the process. Together, we will explore your current difficulties to help you make the changes you hope for.
As an Integrative counsellor, I am not wedded to one particular process or technique, and work with each client to find what's best for their unique needs. I work with a wide variety of clients and issues, including trauma, sexual abuse, anxiety and depression.
Finding the right counsellor can feel overwhelming, and it's important to find the right 'fit'. Get in touch for a free 20 minute phonecall to discuss your aims and see if I'm the right person for you to work with. Info@jenniewalmsley.com
I am a qualified and experienced therapist, practising in Oxfordshire, London, and online. I offer a safe, non-judgemental environment where individuals can explore their challenges and begin to understand themselves more fully.
Before qualifying, I worked as a BBC journalist making television and radio programmes with a wide range of people — from prisoners and priests to Presidents. That experience gave me a deep appreciation of human complexity, resilience, and the many ways people make sense of their lives. It also taught me how to listen with genuine curiosity and without judgement — a skill which underpins my counselling.
I also work as a coach, helping people determine their goals, navigate change, and communicate more effectively with others. I've worked with clients in the private, educational and public sectors.

Counselling usually happens weekly, at the same time. Sessions are 50 minutes long, and can be either online, or in person. The number of sessions depends on your goals and needs.
I offer both short-term therapy (between 6 and 12 weeks) where we focus on a particular issue, and longer-term open-ended therapy. In each case, we will have regular reviews of our work together.
I am an Integrative counsellor, which simply means I am not wedded to one theoretical approach, but adapt to meet the needs of clients. Together we examine your current difficulties, as well as considering past experiences and relationships which may impact on your current life. A good counselling experience depends on the relationship between client and counsellor, which is why I offer a free, no obligation initial phonecall, and regular reviews of work undertaken to ensure you're getting what you need.
Yes, all sessions are confidential and handled with discretion. The only exception is if there is any risk of serious harm to yourself or others, in which case I have a duty of care to act appropriately. This will be discussed clearly with you in your first session, where we agree a 'contract' as to how we work together.
Sessions start from £75. Some concessions are available. You can either 'pay as you go' or in advance. All virtual sessions must be paid for in advance. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice may be subject to the full session fee.
